Virat Kohli: Into the ODIs Catching Elite!

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli secured a spot in the Top-5 list of players with the most catches in ODIs.The team achieved this milestone during the recently concluded first game against West Indies at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

During the match, Kohli equaled Ross Taylor’s tally of 142 catches in ODIs with a spectacular one-handed catch to dismiss Romario Shepherd off Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery. Despite not getting a chance to bat, Kohli’s exceptional fielding stole the limelight.

In a critical moment, Romario Shepherd attempted a forward drive to a full delivery outside off. The ball caught the outside edge of his bat and seemed to be falling short on its way to the second slip. However, Kohli stunned everyone with an incredible effort at the slips, plucking the ball with a one-handed stunner to his right, leaving his teammates in awe.

With this catch, Virat Kohli joined an elite list of players, including Mahela Jayawardene, Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Ross Taylor, who have achieved this milestone in their ODI careers. As the ongoing series against West Indies continues with two more ODIs, Kohli has a great chance to surpass New Zealand’s great batsman, Ross Taylor, and further solidify his position among the best in the history of the sport.
