The upcoming 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already suffered some setbacks with several players being ruled out due to injuries. The league, which is one of the most-watched cricket tournaments in the world, will see some notable absentees.
The Indian cricket team’s star players Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries. Bumrah, who plays for the Mumbai Indians team, suffered a shoulder injury during a practice session, while Pant, who was set to lead the Delhi Capitals, suffered a knee injury.
In addition, Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, has also been ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Another notable absentee is the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
However, the teams have not lost hope, as they have named replacements for the injured players. The Mumbai Indians have roped in the South African pacer Anrich Nortje as a replacement for Bumrah, while the Delhi Capitals have named West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran as Pant’s replacement.
The Mumbai Indians have also named the New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer, while the Royal Challengers Bangalore have named the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell as a replacement for Marcus Stoinis.
The IPL has always been known for its intense competition, and with the inclusion of new players, the teams will be looking to make a strong comeback. The fans will be eagerly waiting for the tournament to begin and see their favourite teams and players in action.
