India vs. Pakistan World Cup Match Date Update

India vs. Pakistan

The BCCI is considering changing the schedule for the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match in the ODI World Cup. Originally planned for October 15, they are now thinking about moving it to October 14 in Ahmedabad. The reason behind this potential change is that October 15 marks the beginning of the Hindu festival of Navaratri. Local police have expressed concerns about security on that day, prompting the possibility of shifting the match to a different date. The BCCI has informed the ICC about this proposed change, but a final decision has not yet been made. They have scheduled a meeting on July 27 with all the state associations hosting World Cup matches to further discuss this matter.

As per the original World Cup schedule, October 14 was designated as a double-header day. England was scheduled to play against Afghanistan in a day match in Delhi, while New Zealand was set to face Bangladesh in a day-night game in Chennai. Although there are no days with three matches, there are six days with two matches.

India’s World Cup campaign is set to commence on October 8 with a game against Australia in Chennai. They were initially supposed to play against Afghanistan on October 11 in Delhi before their match against Pakistan. Following that, their next game is against Bangladesh on October 19 in Pune.

For Pakistan, their tournament begins on October 6 with a match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad. They then have a game against Sri Lanka on October 12, also in Hyderabad. If the India vs. Pakistan match is moved to October 14, Pakistan will have only one day between their games in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, while India will have a two-day break.

This change comes after the BCCI announced the World Cup schedule later than expected. Although the sale of match tickets has not been announced yet, fans and stakeholders have already made travel arrangements, including booking flights and hotels in Ahmedabad, for this highly anticipated match, which is historically one of the most-watched sporting events worldwide.
