Naseem Shah’s Cricket Journey
Naseem Shah burst onto the scene at just 15, making his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited. His natural, whip-like action generated an effortless pace, setting him apart in the competitive world of Pakistani fast bowling. A year later, he earned his Pakistan cap, but not without facing tragedy – losing his mother before his debut.
His potential shone bright. In his second Test, he became the youngest fast bowler to secure a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka. Records tumbled as he claimed a Test hat-trick in just his third match against Bangladesh.
Injuries sidelined him after his initial success, a consequence of his youthful body coping with extreme pace. He made a triumphant return against Australia, showing no signs of slowing down.
Surprisingly, Naseem excelled in white-ball cricket too. Despite no white-ball internationals until August 2022, he thrived in the absence of Shaheen Afridi. His standout T20I debut, dismissing KL Rahul and challenging Virat Kohli, showcased his potential. Strong performances in the Asia Cup solidified his reputation. Leading Pakistan’s fast bowling at 19, he gears up for the T20 World Cup, a chance to showcase his progress and immense potential.
